Commercial energy / Buyer guidance
Sources, assumptions and editorial standards
How commercial energy guides distinguish official context, account-specific rules, planning assumptions and illustrative examples.
The purpose of this library
Commercial Energy Advisors publishes commercial procurement guidance. The site emphasizes contract decisions, bill interpretation, operating context and renewal preparation. It is not a live wholesale terminal, a supplier availability guarantee or a legal, engineering or tax determination for an account.
Prefer primary sources
Energy price and market context should point to the U.S. Energy Information Administration or the responsible market or utility source. Eligibility should point to the regulator, public agency or utility tariff. Building-performance concepts should use sources such as DOE and EPA ENERGY STAR. A source explaining broad cost components does not substantiate a particular savings claim.
Source links appear in the relevant guide. A planning question authored for the guide is not presented as a measured finding from those sources. Current supplier participation and tariffs still require account-level confirmation.
Dates need context
An article update records an editorial change, not automatic refresh of every external observation. A numeric market observation needs its source, period, units and scope. A historical observation must not be described as a current executable quote. Forecasts and scenarios must remain labeled as such.
The October 2026 revamp retained the existing content URLs and focused on stronger eligibility guidance, operating context, claim cleanup and practical tools. It did not establish that every historic market statistic in the legacy resource library has received independent current verification. Use dated observations as context and consult the linked primary source before relying on them.
No invented outcomes or credentials
An independently constructed example is labeled illustrative. It does not represent a customer, testimonial, completed transaction or achieved saving. Industry equipment examples describe questions to investigate, not proof that every site has the same equipment. We do not infer a broker license from a business title or claim nationwide authorization without evidence.
Explain calculator boundaries
Tools state their formulas, units and exclusions. A modeled supply difference is not a total-bill saving. A calendar subtraction is not an interpretation of a notice clause. A demand sensitivity is not a promised operational reduction. The inputs stay in the browser rather than being attached to an inquiry.
Keep imagery honest and lightweight
Facility images generated for the revamp are illustrations of fictional settings, not photographs of client properties or company staff. They are served in responsive compressed formats with dimensions reserved for stable layout. Below-fold imagery loads lazily. Charts and decision diagrams should use accessible text or code so their labels remain accurate and readable.
